Salisbury Gifted and Talented Cluster

For the last year South Wilts has been working with a group of Salisbury secondary schools to provide opportunities for Gifted and Talented students across the area to work together. This is a key part of our work as a national Gifted and Talented Lead School. We have worked with local primary schools for some time, inviting students to take part in science and DT enrichment lessons, and are now working with secondary schools too.

On Friday 21st May twenty Gifted and Talented students from Wyvern College and St Joseph's School came to South Wilts and joined a group of our Year 9 students to take part in a Drama and Science enrichment day. Students worked in cross-school teams to investigate future green fuel options using high level laboratory experiments, role play and intense competitions. On such a hot day burning fuels in the lab was particularly challenging!

The students worked very well together and the company running the day were extremely impressed by the sophisticated ideas and high level thinking from all students. Later in the term South Wilts is hosting a Sixth Form open day for Year 10 students from across Salisbury including taster lessons and a careers workshop.
