Young Enterprise 2010

The South Wilts Young Enterprise Company 'Spectrum' have had a great term. April saw the launch of their 'Salisbury Saver' discount card which gives discounts at many local businesses in Salisbury (for more details check out their Facebook page). This venture led them to be featured in both the Salisbury Journal and on Spire FM. Cards cost £4 and are available from students in school and from 'The Unit' in Salisbury.

This month also saw delivery of their first order of the 'SWGS' Pyjama bottoms, which proved very
popular (nearly 130 orders were placed). Due to their popularity the girls are placing a second order for those who missed out the first time around.

Some members of the teaching staff have even shown interest in ordering them! If you would like a pair they cost £22, order forms are available from reception and should be returned by 16th June.

On 28th April the Young Enterprise Competition began. The girls presented their company to three
visiting judges who were very impressed by what they had achieved. The judges awarded the girls a
place at the Wiltshire County final. The final took place on the 15th May, in all 11 teams from throughout Wiltshire were present. The girls performed very well, picking up two awards for 'Best Trade Stand' and 'Best Financial Performance' - a fantastic achievement. Unfortunately they did not win overall, although it was a very close contest.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the girls for all their hard work this year. I am incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. I would also like to thank our Business Adviser, Ulf Thored, for all the help and support he has given us this year.

(Mr Brown)
