KS3 Science Year 7

The year 7 Science course aims to introduce pupils to safe methods of working in the laboratory, to develop the basic skills needed in Science, to instil an understanding of How Science Works and to carry out investigations in the context of work from the National Curriculum.

Students are taught in form groups, having science lessons three times a week, with homework being set twice a week. Topics covered include;

Cells, classification and adaptation
Reproduction, inheritance and selection
Particles
Simple chemical reactions
Electricity and electromagnetism
The Earth and Space


This forms one half of the preparation for their end of key stage assessment, so that students will finish this course next year, and start their GCSE courses at the beginning of year 9.

KS3 Science Year 8

The year 8 Science course continues coverage of the National Curriculum. While encouraging the pupils to learn new practical techniques and develop their investigational skills they will cover the following topics, aiming to finish the course so that students can begin their preparation for triple award Science GCSE at the start of year 9.

Plants and feeding relationships
Health
Human organ systems
Patterns of reactivity
Forms of energy
Forces, speed, pressure and moments
