A-Level Results 2011

Exceptional student achievements at South Wilts Grammar School

Students have yet again excelled in their A Level examinations this year with an outstanding 80% of all A Level results at A*, A or B Grades. A tremendous 50% of all grades were at A or A* level, with 20% at A* and a pass rate of 99.3%

With an ever expanding sixth form, 178 girls sat A Level examinations this year, with 49 students gaining 3 or more A Levels at grade A or A*. 156 students have already been accepted at universities with few girls taking a gap years.

We are delighted with the number of students that have gained places at the top universities.   Four girls, Charlotte Hart, Evie Kitt, Emily Tan and Amy Watson have gained places at Oxford, with Emily Tan also receiving a choral scholarship. In addition, Philippa Bywater, Laura Mason, Katie Newsome, Hannah Royle and Emily Walker have gained places at Cambridge – Hannah Royle with a fantastic 4 A Levels at grade A*.

This outstanding achievement was matched at AS level, with 4 students gaining an impressive 6 AS Levels at grade A and a further 19 students achieving all their 5 AS levels at grade A. Twins Fiona and Penny Mashford both achieving all 5 of their AS Levels at grade A.

Many of the students have excelled this year, not just academically but in sport, music and drama, highlights this year including a student managed performance of Grease and singing with classical musicians Blake.

All our students, whether they have been at South Wilts for seven years or joined us in the Sixth Form, have achieved deservedly high levels of success. This year’s tremendous results are a credit to the hard work and determination of students and staff and to the support of parents and friends of the school.
