Lay Chaplaincy

Hi, my name is Katie. I work for The Bridge Youth Project and it is through them that I am part of South Wilts Grammar School.

I joined the school in September 2025 bringing a wealth of experience of working with young people and supporting people through challenging times in their lives. I love to journey with students, encouraging and watching them grow into their unique identity.

My role as Lay Chaplain is to encourage, support, listen and care. This generally takes place through one to one work with students offering anything from mentoring to spiritual guidance; helping students deal with issues at home, school, friendship groups, helping with behaviour and supporting them through challenging times. I also encourage the students to volunteer in their community.

Volunteering in the community

I work with the local church, to encourage connections between the school and the community.

Christian Union

The Bridge Youth Project is a Christian charity and so it is my pleasure to be supporting students who are part of the Christian Union. The group is an informal place to express and explore what it means to be a Christian today.

Lunchtime drop ins

These are held at lunch times and offer a safe, relaxed environment for students to chill and chat.

Drop-in club: Wednesday lunchtime in D9

Christian Union club: Thursday lunchtime in O52

10:10 Course

10:10 is a wellbeing resource created by Ugly Duckling Company to help young people discover how to live differently and find their best life. Ten themes built on spirituality and positive psychology give 11 to 17 year-olds the opportunity to explore different ideas around happiness and the art of living life well.
We meet in a small group and explore topics such as Thankfulness, Forgiveness and Relationships.

I am in school all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you have a question or prayer requests and would like to contact me then please do so on: kdo@swgs.wilts.sch.uk
