We do not provide individual tours of the school but invite you to attend our Open Evening or one of our Talk and Tour sessions. These events are relevant to current Year 5 pupils and their parent/carers only as information on the admissions process and 11+ changes annually.

Open Evening

Our Open Evening for pupils in Year 5 and their parent/carers takes place in March each year.

Talk & Tour

Talk & Tours take place between 10 and 11:30am and are an opportunity for pupils in Year 5 and their parents to visit South Wilts Grammar School, find out about the school and the 11+ process and have a tour of our facilities.

Talk and Tour dates for 2026-27 will be published shortly.

Registration for the 11+ for Year 7 entry in September 2027 is now open.  Registration will close at midnight on 1 September 2026.

Parent/carers who wish their daughter to sit the familiarisation test should complete the familiarisation test section on the registration form.

If your daughter has additional educational needs or any barriers to learning, you can request additional assistance when taking the 11+ in the form of special access arrangements. Guidance can be found here.

Parent/carers who have registered for the 11+ will receive final test arrangements via the email provided on the registration form approximately one week before the 11+ test/familiarisation test.

1. Mathematics (50minutes) covering all aspects of the year 5 National Curriculum in mathematics with some questions covering the start of the year 6 curriculum.
2. English (45minutes) assessing linguistic skills as well as comprehension, spelling and punctuation
3. Verbal Reasoning (50minutes) assessing logical thinking and problem-solving skills

Free familiarisation papers from GL Assessment are available here and will help students to become familiar with the multiple-choice layout of the test, content and examples of some types of questions they will face. This is particularly useful for the verbal reasoning tests as students may not have encountered this type of question before. The number of questions in each test may vary.

Support for Pupil Premium Students – Atom Learning

South Wilts Grammar School is open to girls (Years 7-11) from all backgrounds. If your child is in Year 4 or 5 and is eligible for free school meals at any point during the last 6 years, they will be given free access to the Atom Learning platform. You do not need to be planning to apply to South Wilts Grammar School to be eligible for this resource, this is available to all pupils that met the criteria stated above.

We hope that having access to this learning platform will enable students to continue to build/develop their knowledge and skills set out in the national curriculum, and that they feel inspired/encouraged to apply to sit our entry test.
