A Level Results 2026

SWGS is celebrating another year of exceptional A Level results, with 218 students completing their examinations this summer. An impressive 31% of all grades were awarded at A or A*, while 31 students achieved a clean sweep of A*/A grades across at least three subjects.

These outstanding results have enabled the vast majority of students to secure places at their first-choice universities, pursuing a diverse range of academic and professional pathways. Students will be progressing to highly prestigious institutions and courses, including Medicine, Mathematics, Professional Dance and Musical Theatre at the renowned Bird College Conservatoire. In addition, one student has secured a place at the Royal Welsh Conservatoire, while several others have gained places on highly competitive apprenticeship programmes in finance, law, accountancy, and the Royal Navy.

Commenting on this year’s achievements, Headteacher Dr Amanda Smith said:

“We are immensely proud of every student’s hard work and determination. Achieving these results with our largest-ever cohort is a remarkable accomplishment. It is a testament to the dedication of our staff and students, whose collective efforts have created a supportive, inclusive and academically ambitious environment where all learners can succeed.”

As we bid farewell to another successful cohort, we wish our students every success in their future studies, careers, and lives beyond school. At the same time, we look forward to welcoming the next generation of Sixth Form students and supporting them as they strive to achieve their own ambitions and fulfil their potential.

GCSE Results 2026

South Wilts Grammar School is proud to celebrate an exceptional set of GCSE results, reflecting the talent, dedication and hard work of its students. Across a broad range of subjects, this year’s cohort has achieved remarkable success, continuing the school’s long-standing tradition of academic excellence.

This year, 155 students completed their GCSE examinations, with an impressive 74% of all grades awarded at 7 to 9, including 24% at the highest grade 9. The school’s provisional Progress 8 score of +1.32 further highlights the exceptional progress students have made throughout their time at South Wilts Grammar School. These outstanding outcomes are a testament to the commitment, determination and ambition demonstrated by students throughout their studies.

In addition to the exceptional progress and attainment achieved across the year group, six students achieved grade 9s in at least ten subjects, while 57 students secured eight or more grades at 8 or 9. These results demonstrate both individual excellence and the strength of performance across the cohort.

Headteacher Dr Amanda Smith said:

“We are absolutely delighted with these outstanding results and immensely proud of every one of our students. Their achievements reflect years of hard work, perseverance and ambition, and they deserve enormous credit for all they have accomplished. These results are not only a celebration of academic success, but also of the resilience, kindness and support that this year group has shown throughout their time at South Wilts Grammar School.

I would like to thank our dedicated staff and supportive families, whose encouragement and commitment have played such an important role in helping our students reach their potential. It has been a privilege to watch these young people grow into confident, capable and compassionate individuals, and we look forward to welcoming many of them into our Sixth Form as they continue their journey with us.”

The whole school community is celebrating these fantastic achievements and congratulates all students on their success. We wish them every happiness and success as they take their next steps and look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the future.
