South West Academic Trust
South Wilts Grammar School is a proud member of the South West Academic Trust (SWAT), a collaborative partnership of grammar schools across the region that works closely with the University of Exeter. Established more than 15 years ago, SWAT brings together schools with a shared commitment to academic excellence, innovation and student achievement.
The partnership enables schools to learn from one another, share best practice and develop opportunities that benefit both students and staff. Through collaboration, members work to raise aspiration, improve outcomes and promote educational innovation across the region.
SWAT provides a wide range of opportunities for professional collaboration, including teaching and learning conferences, subject network meetings, leadership development and the sharing of resources and expertise. These networks bring together colleagues from different schools to exchange ideas, explore new approaches and strengthen educational practice.
Students also benefit from the partnership through a variety of enrichment activities, competitions and collaborative events. One of the highlights is the annual SWAT Challenge, hosted by the University of Exeter, which encourages students to work together to develop creative solutions to contemporary issues and present their ideas to expert judges. These experiences help students develop confidence, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills while building connections with peers from across the South West.
As a member of SWAT, South Wilts Grammar School values the opportunity to work alongside like-minded schools and university partners to provide the very best educational experiences for our students and staff.
