Students at South Wilts Grammar School were treated to an unforgettable sporting experience this week as alumna Molly Hole, an England Futures netball player, delivered a high-energy Netball Masterclass for aspiring athletes.
Molly ran the netball masterclass in between her own training sessions for Loughborough Lightning and her lectures at Loughborough University where she is a final year student studying Sport and Exercise Science.
The session brought elite-level netball directly to the school’s courts, with Molly leading drills focused on advanced footwork, dynamic defending, court awareness, ball-handling precision and competitive match play. More than 50 students took part, gaining rare insight into the training habits, discipline and mindset required at national level.
Former SWGS student Molly also shared her personal journey through her netball career, offering motivation and practical advice for young players hoping to follow in her footsteps. Molly took questions from the players on topics such as her training schedule, how to fit in training around her studies, nutrition and the players that had inspired her so far. Molly remarked, “I played with England legends Serena Guthrie and Layla Guscoth at Bath and bump into them every so often at Loughborough. They are so lovely, give me a hug and we have a quick catch up. They seem to know what I am up to on the court which is amazing.”

The students were inspired not only by her skill level but also by her message about perseverance and self-belief. This masterclass enriched the strong netball programme in place at SWGS.”
