South Wilts Grammar School is delighted to announce the outcome of its recent Ofsted inspection.
The Ofsted report highlights the school’s welcoming and vibrant environment, with students expressing exceptional pride in being part of the community. Inspectors praised the school’s ambitious and well-adapted curriculum, exceptional academic outcomes, and the way staff inspire intellectual curiosity in students. Reading was identified as a particular strength, with a ‘palpable buzz’ surrounding literacy across the school.
Behaviour at the school was described as exemplary, with students demonstrating high levels of respect for one another. Inspectors also noted the warm and trusting relationships between staff and students, as well as the school’s commitment to providing opportunities for students to have fun alongside a deep commitment to students’ personal development.
The school’s core values — ‘Be Kind, Be Involved, Be Aspirational’ — were evident throughout the inspection, with Ofsted recognising the school’s strong focus on equality, diversity, inclusion and sustainability. Inspectors described students’ understanding of the world as ‘remarkable’ and commended the school’s efforts in developing students’ character.

The Chair of Trustees, Liz Ogilvie added, “We are incredibly proud of this report, which is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our staff, students, and the support of our parents and carers.”
As this was an ungraded inspection, the school’s current rating of Good will remain. Due to Ofsted recognising the school’s significant improvement in all areas, they will conduct a full graded inspection within 12 to 24 months.
