Our Year 13 environmental science students swapped the classroom for the wilds of Dorset, diving into a full day of hands-on ecological research.
🔍 From setting mammal and moth traps to using sweep nets, beating trays and pitfall traps, they explored a range of techniques to sample local wildlife.
🌱 They got their hands dirty with soil analysis and transect surveys using quadrats.
💧 Then it was off to the River Piddle to collect freshwater invertebrates and measure key abiotic factors — flow rate, pH, nutrients and more!
