We are thrilled to announce that our Senior Girls team achieved an outstanding third-place finish at the National Finals of the English Schools Athletics Association (ESAA) Cross Country Schools Cup.

The Inter Girls and Senior Girls teams travelled to Rugby on Saturday 6 December to compete against the top teams from across the country. The athletes delivered an exceptional performance, showing remarkable determination, resilience and teamwork on a demanding national-level course.

Despite the tough, muddy course, SWGS Inter Girls team finished 11th out of 28 schools—a fantastic achievement at national level. The SWGS Senior Girls team excelled further, placing 3rd nationally out of 27 schools and securing the bronze medal. Their impressive result places them firmly among the best school cross-country teams in England—a truly outstanding achievement.

Jo Hole, joint Head of PE at SWGS remarked, ‘This is an outstanding accomplishment, and we could not be prouder of their hard work and resilience. Both teams have demonstrated remarkable commitment throughout the season. We extend our sincere thanks to their coach, Jeff Butt, for his dedication, expertise and unwavering support.’
