On Monday 29th June, our Year 10 students took part in an inspiring and thought-provoking Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Day, choosing from a wide range of workshops designed to broaden perspectives, celebrate diversity and deepen understanding of the world around them.
Throughout the day, students explored:
- Japanese Language & Culture, learning greetings, cultural traditions and trying their hand at origami.
- Unity 101 FM & BBC Radio, discovering how media can amplify diverse voices, challenge stereotypes and bring communities together. Students were also given the opportunity to complete a presenting challenge in pairs and were given feedback and direction from Aryana Neo.
- Salisbury City Council, gaining a behind-the-scenes insight into local government, civic leadership and how communities can become more inclusive and representative.
- Wiltshire Autism Hub, developing empathy and understanding of neurodiversity while learning how to create more inclusive environments for everyone.
- Salisbury Foodbank, exploring the challenges faced by members of our community and understanding the importance of compassion, support, and active citizenship.
- Gaelic Football, experiencing a traditional Irish sport that brought students together through teamwork, participation and fun.
- Latin, uncovering the legacy of the ancient world and its continuing influence on modern society and culture.
- British Sign Language & Deaf Awareness, gaining an insight into Deaf culture, accessibility, and foundational BSL communication skills, helping students understand how small actions can make a big difference in creating an inclusive community
- Creative Workshops, where students expressed themselves through Mandala pebble painting and Mehndi-inspired clay handprints, celebrating creativity and cultural traditions.

Your valuable insights helped our students develop a richer understanding of equality, diversity, inclusion, empathy, community, and belonging.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, respect, and engagement shown by our Year 10 students throughout the day. Together, we continue to build a school community that celebrates differences, values every voice, and embraces opportunities to learn from one another.
